Your Purpose is . . .

Today you should start section one again (pg 17) and by next Wednesday you should work your way through section seven again (pg 53-59). Remember--this is not wasted time. One thing I have learned in post grad work is that you must read a book through three times before you begin to master it.

Here is the plan for services next week:
Next Wednesday we will meet and divide up into smaller groups. Each group will have a moderator who will lead in prayer and then ask the questions below (with some additional ones).

Here is my suggestion: Copy and paste these questions into a Word document and leave yourself space to write in answers as you meditate on them. Write down the answers that God brings to your mind throughout the day. This will help maximize the effectiveness of the book in your life and it will help in the discussions to follow.

Below I will list the questions to answer:

1. What is the implications of the first sentence of the book "It is not about you?"

2. What do you think is the driving force in most peoples lives? Why? What has been the driving force in your life? Has it changed? If so, how?

3. What image or metaphor best describes your life: a race, circus, or something else?

4. If we really understood that life on earth is really "preparation for eternity" how would we act differently? Get specific: how would you view church and its mission? How would you treat your family? What would you do with your leisure time? What about your money?

5. What are some things that people get attached to one earth that keeps them from living for God's purposes? How can we break these strongholds?

6. What have you been attached to that could keep you from living for God's purposes?

The comments in the first post are very good. Feel free to put your thoughts on the blog to share with others. Keep up the great work!
